An Epidemic

I know from personal experience and from working with others that education is a doorway to opportunity.  Just can’t state that enough.  And President Obama is proposing programs that will target our country’s high school drop out rate — calling it an “epidemic”.  Every kid deserves a strong education and every kid NEEDS one in order to realize his or her full potential in life.  America’s Promise — the youth organization General Colin Powell founded many years ago — hosted an event at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce where the President outlined some of his initiatives.  Accountability and success go hand-in-hand.  Students that don’t complete their education are going to be limited in life.  I for one believes this initiative — and the attention that it brings to such a critically important issue — is successful.
